Write Right

Today, I have been writing.

In response to this post, I felt it was apropos to say my piece. Or write my piece, as it were. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I think handwriting provides another dimension to the ever-growing construction of character. Obviously, if you knew a person well, it probably wouldn't mean much to see how they write, or else it's just a tiny part that you take in the stride of knowing them. It doesn't have such an effect on who they are, because you've already gathered most of that information from other sources. But when you don't observe how someone behaves, or hear a person talk, to see their handwriting makes them more real, somehow. There's more to them than just the type of font they choose ;o)

Alas, in searching for something suitable to snap, I discovered that the majority of writing I have for my degree is typed out hand-outs, and any actual handwriting I do is basically pages of polygons, arrows, equations or diagrams, interspersed with a brief explanation. Essentially, I don't really write much at all.

So this is me on a normal notes day, my artistic chemical creations:

And this is me when my hand gets a chance to be literary creative:

Think what you will.

  1. Oooo you've changed the font to your blog - intriguing ;o)

I like your writing, all lovely and rounded, nothing jaggedy, very girly.

Needless to say that Chem crap meant nothing to me :oP

  2. Very neat :)

When I get 5 minutes I'll scan in a sample of my script, for y'all to see.

  3. I never liked organics, which is unfortunate considering that what little chemistry I do is invariably organic. That first page looks very organicsy...but I could well be wrong.

It is very girly writing, neat and tidy and readable. Very rounded. If there is a slant, it is both very slight and to the left.

Quite the handwriting-blog epidemic of late =)

  5. Organic is RUBBISH.

Unfortunately, it's probably the most useful part in terms of job prospects, for industry, pharmacy, biology, the key to every part of chemistry and all 'round just the thing that you won't get by without.

    Hooray, hooray.

  6. Also, hannah, you know we would.

Gimme a project, especially one that involves taking photos, and I'll leap on it like a little kid on a bouncy castle.

Not sure if that simile follows, but I'm sure you get the sentiment :oP

  7. Ha, I was actually looking for that oh so apt cartoon earlier to demonstrate perfectly my feelings for organic chemistry. It makes me want to die, which is ironic really, considering it's at the basis of what keeps many people alive...

I like to have my cake and read it too:
