Best Friends

Today, I have been appreciated.

It's nice to feel appreciated. Sometimes, it's not that we take people for granted, it's just that it's not always easy to express just how much they mean to you. Now, I've been close to someone for a very long time, we've had our ups and downs, but at the end of it, we're in it together. The thing is, with friends like these, you know they have faults. You know there are some annoying aspects of their personality, maybe in the the way they talk or what they say, what they do or how they act, sometimes. The thing is, that everything else aside of those infrequent incidents or minor niggles mean that this is something you want to hold on to, this is something for which the effort is worth it.

When it comes down to it, it seems that most of my friendships are borne out of expediency or longevity. Either we're friends because we see each other all the time at the moment, or we're friends because we've been friends all the time since forages. Occasionally, it bothers me that I don't have that many close friends, that I only have one true friend for each side of life. It's a problem if there's friction between the two of you, because then you're left completely alone. But when it works well, it's fantastic. To find someone who you have that genuine connection to, someone outside of a transient lover or long term partner, someone you can share your thoughts and observations with and know that they'll always be there. Occasionally, I think, well some people wait their whole life searching for such a special connection, I'm really lucky that I already have mine.

  1. In agreement with the whole of the fist paragraph. Lately I've been really noticing the faults in everyone, including myself but just today I realise that, well as you said, we're in it together.

Thing with blog buddies is that you'll rarely notice their annoying habits if they have any at all ;o)
