I heard about the Free Hugs Campaign a while back. Now, I couldn't imagine participating in something like this, well, it's just not British, is it? Or you know, like, general human nature. The idea of cuddling random people doesn't particulary appeal to me. Would you do it?
Although , sometimes words aren't enough, and a hug really does help. Does the fact that it's from a stranger make a difference?

Hugs. Hugs are good. Hugs are better than a kiss because with hugs you can be as intimate as you want...or not. Hugs make you feel safe and wanted.

ReplyDeletethat's the sound of a hug. as I have challenged the use of "mwah" as an actual sound made by a kiss, I figured I'd add to it by giving giving my version of the sound made by a hug. "......" + a few clothes rustling, and maybe some pats on the back, depending on who's being huggified.
Hugs are good, they have their own range of intimacy and care from 'Goodbye, see you later', through 'I love you more than life itself', to 'It'll be ok that the planet has been wiped out by an apocalypse'.
ReplyDeleteThere's a rather good video on YouTube about the free hugs campaign, and rather entertaining stories of people doing hugs being told to stop because they didn't have public liabilty insurance. Which is desperate.

ReplyDelete@ andy: it's the whole onomatopoeic concept that isn't always easy to translate. *mwah* may not mean it sounds like an actual kiss, but hey, it represents it - the sentiment's there ;o) thanks for the hug.
