Re: me

Today, I have ignored a message in my inbox.

A friend I haven't seen for a while sent me a message a week or so ago. I haven't replied yet, and it's getting to the point where it's a bit rude, especially since it's obvious I'll have read it by now. Usually I'd respond with comments appropriately. But to be honest, I can't really be bothered.

So in order to deal with it, get it done, the method I took was to only answer anything asked, not go into too much detail. So I scanned for questions. There were none. About 2000 characters of mememe - melife, meproblems, mework. It's pretty much expected, that's happens in our conversations, anyway. In print, the inbalance is made even more obvious. But to not so much as offer a "how've you been?" did surprise me a little.

I do have news! Just one simple pretence of interest would do, a customary "how was your holiday?", even if you don't care, even if it's just out of politeness, even if I don't have anything much to say. Just a brief deviation from the self-centered natter.

This is a good friend indeed, a lovely person, meaning no harm, always would be understanding if I actively sought, I'm sure. And perhaps these problems are worse and more worthy of discussion than my own meaningless, consumer-driven life. But gosh, I wish I'd hear about the same issues a bit less, sometimes. It's not fun to have the sole topic being "Story of My Life and Related Traumas". It does get dreadfully dull, sometimes.

In truth I didn't ask because I wasn't sure where that's you had been see re: 80-87% and whether or not I had indeed as I suspected made it alllll up. Still, how was it, where did you go?

I need a holiday already and it's only been a few days..

  2. Well, I meant the holiday in the generic sense, as in "how was your vacation from university" since I haven't seen you for three weeks, you might like me to share something about what I've done since? Hah, obviously not aimed at you, hannarh ;oP xxx
