Today, I have felt dissatisfied.
Reasons for sticking at university:
1. I don't know what I'd do with myself otherwise.
2. I've spent too much time, money and effort on it already.
3. I have the incessant, unnecessary need to prove that I'm clever.
4. I wouldn't make many friends anywhere else.
Reasons for wanting to give up:
1. It makes me lose sight of what I'm living for.*
2. I'm working full days, unpaid, unfufilled. And the rest.
3. It makes me more unsure of my intelligence with every assignment.
4. I'm barely even friends with most of my housemates and feel so alone much of the time.
Everyone who genuinely cares about me is a million miles away. Suddenly, hott PhD demonstrators aren't a good enough reason anymore.
*I guess if I stick around I'll prolly get shot anyways

It's gets boring doesn't it, time for a change methinks.
ReplyDeleteTime should hurry up.

If university was really all about having fun 24/7, degrees wouldn't hold the value they do. That is what I try to remind myself when it gets tough. It'll go soon enough - assuming you're on a three-yr course, you're half-way done now, and that's the much harder half you've just completed.
