Today, I have a lack of autonomy.
"Do you wanna come out tonight?"
At uni:
"Sure, I'll see you later!"
-4 min walk to friend's house
-5 min taxi journey to town
At home:
"Um, ar, I don't know, I have to check about getting there n times n stuff..."
-grovel, grovel, beg, kneel, sponge, crawl to parents for a "lift for the fourth time this fortnight, half an hour out of your way, at ridiculous times of the evening, pleasums?"
Sometimes, I wish I didn't feel so far away from everyone else.

I have some concept of this, although probably not as much as some of your more rural readers... I will be quiet!
ReplyDeleteYup, I have that problem too. Muchos Irritating.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason why I hate not having a car.
Story of my life - especially my school life. I think it put me at a little of a disadvantage and in some sense I think it's the reason I'm not in touch with many of my old friends anymore. When it's difficult to meet up you lose the closeness you may have had - at least I have and then comes the lack of desire to meet up simply because it's so difficult.
ReplyDeleteAs my inner child would say, "it's all a bit bum"
xxx
Ha, I'm not quite as rural as perhaps I make out to be, just a little away from all my friends, making it a littler bit difficulter to meet up.
ReplyDeleteOh well.
ReplyDeleteI win this time ;o)
Yup, know this feeling rather well. Wasn't a problem before my mum's car was branded 'dangerous to drive' (complete with stickers on the windscreen) in its MOT and she stole mine though.
ReplyDeleteStill, should get it back tomorrow afternoon...we live in hope!
