Hippy Chic

I've become one of those girls.

You know, the kind that packs twice as many dresses as she has nights out planned, then buys a new outfit whilst away and decides to wear that instead. Oh dear. I've become one of those girls that thinks it's appropriate to wear leggings with nothing more than what is effectively a t-shirt, cos if it covers your bum, that's fine, right? Oh dear. I've become one of those girls that thinks that UGG-style boots are appropriate footwear for anything other than house-bound slippers. Oh dear.

I've become one of those girls that spends half an hour in the shoe section, trying on this season's biker boots, having been shopping all afternoon, whilst wearing heels. Heels; during the day?! I've become one of those girls that owns a handbag costing more than the contents and the contents include like, make-up and other girly items. A girl who changes her handbag to match her outfit; who changes her outfit to to match her nails. A girl who packs three bottles of nail polish for one night out.

I've become one of those girls that goes out to buy a practical, classic-style coat to last the winter months and many years to come and comes back with a fur-lined, duffle coat that is like, so in style right now. I've become one of those girls that goes out for a quick lunch and comes back with a strapless flowery dress that she has absolutely no occasion to wear, but that looks quite good with those new shoes she bought a few weeks back.

In my defence, the dress was from a charity shop and cost £4, with a broken seam that will be hand sewn together again. And I'm sure I'll go out one day in the future again. One day, I'll have friends to go out with in the evening. Either that or I'll be that eccentric hippy chickster that wears a party outfit and picks in her ears to walk the dog and the fit fisherman-stroke-guitarist will give me a grin and we'll get together and go to a festival where it's totally acceptable to wear wellies with a dress. Of course, at the moment, that fictional fisherman firmly remains a fickle fantasy, but a girl can dream, hey?

  1. Nonsense.
Some of this is quite worrying, but at least you understand the whole leggings/covered bum situation.
And like hell are you one of 'those' girls.

    Keep it eloquent
    Optimistic but
    Never quite elegant

  2. Sometimes, I feel like you wouldn't know me if you met me :P

But yes, I am still a weirdo. That goes without saying.

  3. It's OK, I'm more like one of 'those girls' than my blog would care to admit...
