It's in its fifth year of running, and I've been there since the beginning. When I was sixteen, talking to strangers online wasn't a very cool thing to do. I mean, I'd been on chatrooms and such, but the general consensus was always - why talk to strangers when you can have friends in the flesh? Now, it's considered more widely socially acceptable to network with people you've never met (see, for example, Chatroulette) and so it's not so odd to say so any more. Having said that, if I mentioned in Real Life that I write a blog under an anonymous guise, I'm pretty sure I'd get some askance glances and chiding comments. It is kind of a weird thing to do, really. But as long as no-one finds out, s'fine...
The Forum Whatever essentially maps my journey from the unknown world of endless potential net mates to a niche clique of a dozen or so regulars. If you take a click (and I'm pretty sure your curiousity won't let you resist, after all it's a given that you're inquistive by your very blog-reading nature) you'll see an alternative view of my online alias, with much of the same as you'll find here, except maybe more explictly stated in some cases. If you sign up as a member, you'll discover a new and fascinating way to waste time online, with discussions on everything from Cooking to Chivalry to Cheerleading and beyond. Plus, you can stalk me more frequently with better precision, and of course, that's the intention of everyone reading this, is it not?
Also, the leader of the pack said that if I manage to get three new members to sign up (that is, sign up, stay for longer than a day, and post more than once...) that the forum would be renamed The Flix Whatever in my honour, for a limited period of time and I'd get some cake. That may or may not be a lie, but it's worth a try, aye?
And so, guys and chicks,
Let’s all say together,
We like to mix
At The Flix Whatever!

I tried, I did, but the image verification on the signup page won't load...
ReplyDeleteAha, I wondered! I've got a few clicks from it recently and I had no idea why, I wondered if that Flix was you! Hum. I honestly would sign up but the Ravelry forums are quite enough of a drain on my time these days...
ReplyDeleteI said that in *2005* and I'm quite confident that my latest words on the matter were along the lines of "absolutely not". This is the most transparent attempt at shadowy retroactive blackmail I've seen for a long time. But you seem to the be only one who may get there now, so go fish, you get your wish.
ReplyDeleteGahhhh, why can you not edit comments here? I sound like such a hardass if you can't tell I'm joking. Forums have editing. What more could you need? Come for the posts, stay for the editing.
ReplyDeleteHi.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have neglected my blog lately, amongst other things. You know how it is when you leave something for a while and get out of the loop; it's always harder to get back into it. I shall continue soon enough though, as I only have a few more days to cover.
Thanks for checking in the way you do; it's nice to have somebody still think of me from time to time.
@TT: I'm not sure you ever did say it, but if it worked I would have claimed you had. At last mention, I am quite sure that it was more along the lines of "I don't think so" rather than an outright "absolutely not", so I'm holding out hope...Don't stop believing, eh? Good things come to those who wait.
ReplyDeleteAs for editing (mwhahaha, only I have the power in here...) not every sentence gets a second chance at being said. Though, I suppose, words said aloud don't stick so starkly as those on a screen.
TT is the lovely leader of the pack, ladies and gents, in case you hadn't gathered.
@Anom: You should blog, please. Also, you know what you should do? Join the Flix Whatever. You know you want to...
...deja vu? :P
You are blaters on commission here...
ReplyDeleteI've just been described as lovely, so she's definitely up to something.
ReplyDelete@teacherface: For sure. Fancy joining in with FW? You totes should :P
ReplyDelete@TT: Sorry, I meant nice. Also, 2 new members and counting. Can I have my cake yet?
I'm pretty sure he DID name the forum after you once already. But you knew that, you are the resident mistress of memory ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, love the poem.
I got cake.
