Spring Zing

Today, I have seen the beginnings of Springings.

Spring is sprung,
De grass is riz,

I wonder where dem birdies is?

De little birds is on de wing,
Ain’t dat absurd?

De little wing is on de bird!

Lighter days...Warmer days...Happier days...

There are only four seasons, so as much as you'd like to be, you can never be unique in your preference (though considering I have about four readers, maybe you could be the odd one out...)
Here comes the thought-provoking thought process - what's your favourite season? I say Spring. The sense of a fresh start, spring clean of old thoughts, perhaps?

Winter can be hugely depressing. Summer seems like a snatch of warm weather that is always built up to be more enjoyable with more expectations than ever transpire. Autumn is the start of a new academic year and while I love the leaves and trees, it is a reminder that Winter is around the corner.

Spring, spring brings hope. Spring starts the lingering sunny days: a subtle suggestion that, hey, maybe life aint so bad after all; a little anticipation that hey, maybe things will turn out alright...

  1. Being thoroughly perverse, I like all the seasons pretty much equally for different reasons. Maybe autumn a little less than others because the days are getting shorter, it's a long, stressful term, and there's rain and cold and 'flu in the air. Just about May is my favourite, or it would be if it weren't for exams! We're lucky that we don't live at the equator, really. I think I'd get tired of any season if we had it all year round.

And yes, sun is a powerful mood booster, isn't it?! *basks*

  3. Summer FTW. Winter is Dark, Dull and utterly Depressing, spring is better but still cold, wet, and the sun is really low in the sky and shines right in your eyes. I like autumn, but summer wins by a mile because the days last a sensible amount of time.

  4. Noooo, I like Winter :oP. How can you not like those days when the sky is bright blue and the sun is shining brightly and the air is so crisp you can see your breath? Pure madness!

That bit is ok (apart from it generally being bloody freezing). But it doesnt happen often, the sun shines brightly directly into your eyes (cos its lower in winter) and did I mention its cold? The bit I really dont like is the fact that in winter it gets light at about 11:15am and goes dark again at 1:45pm. Horrible.

This is what I like about the beginning of Spring. Yes, it's still bloody cold, but the sun is shining and the magic of seeing your breath is always a wonder to behold :oD

Winter Sunglasses. Sure, you get called pretentious and poserish - but at least you can see ;o)

Ha, apart from the *slight* exaggeration with respect to exact timings, I agree - waking up in the dark, coming home in the dark = thoroughly disheartening. I dislike the dark.

  7. "Winter Sunglasses"

I wear glasses. If I took them off to wear sunglasses, I'd be able to see even less... :-P

  8. Dickie, that's a poor excuse when you also have contacts!

You know you want to parade around Cardiff wearing sunglasses in February. Please do have someone take a photo because it sounds hilarious! :-P
