Instant Gratification

Today, I have been instantly gratified.

Give it to me, I gotta get it, I want it.

Rarely do I need to wait for anything. Almost anything can be checked immediately via the internet, buses come every ten minutues or sooner, food can be eaten straight from the fridge, TV programmes are watched on demand. If a friend doesn't text back within half an hour, suddenly it's all "well, what have I done wrong?"

Just because everything is avaliable so readily, doesn't mean you have to have it instantly. Sometimes, it's good to wait. Good things come to those who wait...

Part of the problem of procrastination is that it's so easy to fill time with nothing in particular- everything is there at your fingertips, there's no reason to deny yourself the option to have it right now.

Now, now, now!

A little more laughter,
A little less worry,

A little more kindness,

A little less hurry.

  1. Sometimes I think that things should be witheld for longer than they are now. It's true that we are a society for whom waiting for something is something of a 'forgotten art', and it should be re-learnt.

then I realise that I don't want to have to LEARN it. I want to know it NOW.
