My Self

Today, I have felt accomplished.

I started the day with a bowl of porridge and aching buttocks. First cardio & tone class of the year yesterday and I felt it in my legs, bum and tum afterwards. Then a yoga session to restore my torn and tired muscles today. Why yes, January, the year is barely beginning and I'm already winning. Take that.

The sixth of January is the Epiphany. I am not totally down with the spiritual side of yoga, but I think I prefer that slant to the fit-focus side of it. It is needed sometimes. Sort of like therapy, you lie in a room, stretch out, and someone tells you to stop stressing. Relax. Breathe. All that matters is that you look after yourself and your body, don't worry about the others. Do what feels right for you. Just let all tension and the worry go, if you can. It made me feel better, anyway.  I wouldn't say it's an epiphany, as such, but it's like I got this music in my mind saying "it's gonna be alright."

It is the last day of Christmas. Lights go off, decorations come down. For all intents and purposes, that means that new year starts tomorrow.

A new dawn, a new day, a new life. And I'm feeling good.

Fundamental Faith

Today, I have been to church.

Generally, I prefer not to talk about religion. Often, I find it futile to speak of such values, since usually, I find that most people are unwilling to alter their views one way or another. To a certain extent, I admire the Christian Union members in aiming to spread the Word in their own way, even though the so-called God Squad can get a little on my nerves in their holier-than-thou manner, sometimes. But hey, it's not as if atheists can't be irritatingly arrogant in the same way.

Given the time of year and that it is the most important date on the Western Christian calendar, the basis of the faith and core definition of Christianity, I feel perhaps it might be appropriate to give Jesus a bit of a mention. I'm not looking for discussion or personal attacks on why-people-who-follow-any-kind-of-religion-are-foolish-idiots, 'cause in the end, it doesn't seem to come to anything. People can debate forevermore, but religion can easily be argued either way with no doubt very valid reasons behind it, ones which could just as easily be refuted by the opposition as each side stands their ground. I'm all for wanting to find out more, and while it's interesting to hear people's views,  in the end, it seems that people will come to their own conclusions, and while they may be influenced by particular incidents, no-one can really say for sure one way or another. Call me weak, but I prefer not to participate in such ping-pongs back and forth of rights or wrongs; truths and beliefs. Religion is a such a huge concept, one which can't be solved and rationalised simply, so I'm not even going to try...

Happy Easter!
